Yes, the weather has been nice enough to consider getting out in the water. That area is fun for a day to get out and play a bit. Always gold there, too. We've been spending our extra nice days seeing the new granddaughter in Greeley. However, there…

Hey Dave, I have given this some thought in the past, not only for the sluice but also for the "finish sluice" when running the concentrates at home. How about this idea: set up the spreader independent of the sluice and make it sturdy enough to att…

Well it is Feb. and this last Sat. I played in Clear Creek down by I-270 in Adams County. 2 other guys were diggin' and sluicin' there too. It's a good place to boost your self esteem regarding your ability to find gold. Always yellow in the pan exc…

Hi Doug, I'm down in Gila Bend area. Had a friend down from Oregon all month and been trying different areas. I got 3 on Rich Hill this month and 4 in Dome Rock area. My buddy is leaving Monday. Maybe we can connect sometime next week out on the hi…

Well it's off to Arizona again. I'm leaving first thing Tuesday morning. I'll drive to Prescott, and pick up my new Minelab GPX 4500, from Arizona Outback. Then off to try out the Road Runner claims, on Rich Hill. This time I will have some nuggets…

Hi Dave, Thanks for the pic of the equipment you have in mind. It would throw a lot of material, but, as you said, 350 bucks is a lot of dough to spend on this. We have never heard of this type of thing for a sluice, as most people get into bigger e…

Thanks for the input Shirley, Here's what I've been visualizing so far.Agri-fab makes a 14 gal capacity battery op spreader, but it costs @ 350.00, I figure with some modification,(widening of feed hole to accommodate classified, curtaining outlet w…

Gold Prospecting with Hooked on Gold Welcomes You!

[Most Recent Quotes from www.kitco.com]

Hello! and Welcome.

Gold Prospecting with Hooked on Gold. WOW! 4 years ago when I started my website, www.hookedongold.com, I never would have imagined I would be here beginning a social site on gold prospecting. The website has been a blast to edit, write, and answering all the questions and helping people with their problems with prospecting has been , well, exhilerating, and I must say I have loved every minute.

For anyone here who does not know me, my website, and my prospecting blog www.hookedongold.blogspot.com, you should know that I am a prospector with over 20 years of experience. While I may look like a Dudette, I want to assure you that I really do know a couple of things about prospecting, prospecting equipment and the ins and outs of the regulations, too. I know how to do everything from run a gold pan faster than most sluicers, to filing a claim. I am married to my lifelong love, Larry, who also is very versed in this activity and assists me with the things I do not have all the facts on. I ask occassionally, but not often. We highbank, dredge, metal detect, pan, sluice, AND prospect. We will see you out there....on the river, in the mountains, in the desert, and in the park. As Always..
Good Prospecting to You,
Shirley

Metal Detector

Has anyone had any experience, with Accurate Locators? I was planning on upgrading to a Minelab GPX 4500, but it seems they are on back order. I really don't want to buy one off Ebay for double the price.

Accurate Locators, has a SSP-2100 for around the same price as the Minelab. I'm looking for some feed back?

Thanks
Doug McConnell

Winter Gold

Happy New Year to all! May you find enough gold this year to retire in style!

I have heard about a video made by somone who has been dredging this December in the Leadville area. The man underwater is most probably wearing a 'warm' suit, but the top man has to be plumb crazy. Supposedly they are dredging below the ice and there are big snow drifts all around them. BRRRR! Makes me shudder to think about it. Don't know if they are finding enough gold to make it worth their while, either. I'll see… Continue

Have a Golden Holiday Season and a Merry Christmas!

Christmas is but a week away, and the winter solstice is on Monday. With all the sub zero weather we have had this December, we are wondering what WINTER has in store for us! LOL!

Converting computers to Windows 7 has occupied most of our time, as of late. Installation of 7 was no problem, but getting all the nonconvertible programs on the new computer is a challenge. Integration has been tough, but we are working through all the issues and 7, so far, is everything they said it was.

Helpfull Hints Tips and Facts Did you know???

Hunting gold and silver with a metal detector in the same area for the last 6 years, and averaging about 20 days per year, sounds like the lazy way to prospect for metals. Working for a living cuts our hunting time to weekends. Hunting gold above timberline, limits us to 5 months a year. The ground can be frozen solid from snow and daily rain.
My wife Ella and I metal detect proven ground, meaning it's a full blown goldmine with tangible evidence 150 plus years of heavy mine dumps tailings 'haul r… Continue
